Maintaining good relationship with clients could gain you more projects and more dollars. No one wants to have a bad reputation with their clients. A bad reputation will lead to less freelancing gigs. Always make sure to keep your clients happy and provide great services. A good reputation and a good relationship with your clients can definitely help lead you to future gigs.

Always keep your skills up-to-date.

As a freelancer it is your duty to keep yourself updated with the latest trends in the field. Learning new tips and trick in your job should be a continuous process. Do not hesitate to spend a little in learning a new technique that could help you come out with flying colors in you future projects.

Taking classes, reading books and so on can help you keep your skills up-to-date. Certain fields such as many in the computer industry change all the time, so you always want to make sure that your skills are fresh. Falling behind is never good for a freelancer. Clients/customers always want the newest and latest, and the most efficient/effective services.

Make sure to have enough saved.

Being a freelancer almost always means that there is no guarantee to your regular income and that you should start the habit of saving some money for the days when you won’t find jobs. You might have lower months than usual, and savings will help you prepare for this.
